April 2009 News

April 19

WDT-Allvoi had a tremendous day at the Cherry Valley 30K Time Trial. Monika, Brian, and Chris Jr. all received golds today! Monika won the Womens Cat 4, Brian won the Mens Cat 3, and Chris Jr. won the Mens Cat 4. Doug Peterson also had an awesome day placing 3rd in the Mens Cat 3. Mr. Brian Akers had the second best time of the day only finishing a little behind Bryce Mead of Jelly Belly Pro Cycling Team.

We would also like to extend a big congratulations to Chris Wiatr Jr. for making the U.S. Junior National Triathlon Team for 2009. He will be representing the U.S. National Jr. team and WDT-Allvoi on May 16 in Oklahoma City for the Junior World Triathlon Championships.

As for Sunday in Madison, Wisconsin...

It was chilly but dry for the whole day until the start of the 3s race when the rain finally started coming down.

Mr. Londono made another appearance in Madison and improved on Saturday's performance. He placed 7th in the Cat 5 race and refocused for the Masters 4/5 nabbing 4th place in the process. Way to go James.

Chris and Ricardo stayed overnight in Madison and repeated the events from the day before. In the Master 3/4 race, Chris tried to bring in a solo rider off the front by himself. Nobody would help him. He had the breakaway guy within reach but enough was enough. Chris had to back off. The guy stayed off and won the race. Ricardo got to the front and won the field sprint for 2nd place.

In the wet and rainy Cat 3 race, Chris gave a leadout to Ricardo. It was a valiant effort and Ricardo and Chris got 5th and 6th respectively.

This is the recap from the racing in Madison, WI at the Gregg Bednorski Memorial Spring Race.

It was great day with nice temperatures in the high 60s.

Chris Wiatr got his feet wet in his first crits of the year and he got 7th in a fast Junior 15-18 race. He also got 7th in the Cat 5 event. Not a bad first outing. We should see some exciting things from him this year.

In Masters 3/4, Voytek gave a strong hard leadout to Ricardo allowing him to get 2nd. One rider slipped by him at the last moment. Chris Gola unfortunately got tangled up in a crash just before the line in the final sprint. He got a few bumps and scrapes but he is okay and was able to race the rest of the weekend.

WDT's newest member, James Londono, raced twice. He placed 9th in the Cat 5 and 18 in the Masters 4/5. He's very enthusiastic about racing and he strikes me as a very nice fellow.

Chris Gola and Ricardo hung around for the Cat 3 race. Ricardo got a decent position going into the final corner and got 4th. Chris Gola, still in some pain, rode strongly, and finished in the top half of the field.
